Wedding Looks That Turn Your Perception of Traditional Brides
The most awaited moment of any wedding ceremony is, of course, the appearance of a beautiful bride. The only difference is that everyone has their own concept of beauty and their own customs. But, as you know, traditions cannot be violated, but you still really want to get married.
Munaposts collected impressive traditional wedding dresses, when you see them, you will definitely experience the whole gamut of emotions. We were especially impressed by Bulgaria.
Traditional Brides – Bulgaria (Ribnovo)
A wedding in the Bulgarian village of Ribnovo is always a colorful and high-profile event: it is customary to invite all the locals to it. Here, tribal traditions are still preserved, following which brides paint their face white – a symbol of purity. Then numerous multicolored sparkles are superimposed on the white base. Silver threads that attach to a flower wreath fall on the bride’s face with such “make-up”.
There should be a lot of glitter on the face, since, according to legend, it will be the husband who removes them from the face on the wedding night. It is believed that this is how spouses learn patience and are filled with tenderness for each other.
Traditional weddings in Ghana are often very colorful, and each family has its own cloth pattern that features on the bride and groom’s wedding outfits.
The traditional wedding dress of the Kazakh bride has a complex name – that uzatu koylek. This is a costume consisting of a dress, camisole, and saukele – a special headdress. Modern brides prefer the white color of the dress or combine a dress of light shade with a bright camisole.
But the most significant attribute is precisely saukele – a cone-shaped headdress, on the top of which a veil or a bunch of feathers is attached. Saukele is so significant that they begin to prepare it long before the wedding.
Traditional Nigerian wedding clothes include lace shirts and patterned caftans. Modern brides are increasingly choosing other outfits. But what exactly remains unchanged is bright makeup, massive jewelry, and a traditional headdress – gel.
A gel is a piece of beautiful fabric wrapped around the head. For a wedding, the gel is embroidered with beads, patterns, sequins, and you can wear it only with the help of someone else: it is quite voluminous and very fragile.
For the wedding ceremony, the Japanese bride wears a traditional white kimono and voluminous headdress. As a rule, in this outfit, you will not see other colors and decorations, as it symbolizes purity and integrity. But for the banquet, the bride dresses up in a colored kimono and here she already shows all her imagination: patterns, beads, embroidery.
Feminine and expensive – that’s how you can describe a Pakistani bride. Her outfit consists of a dress, a veil and a long robe that spans over her shoulder. The materials of the dress – and it is always expensive silk and organza – add lightness and sophistication along with the countless decorations that make it rich and incredibly beautiful.
The bride’s head is covered with a light veil with rich embroidery, a chain with a ring (nath) stretches from the hairstyle to the nose, and jewelry with stones and beads (teak) is laid along the parting. For the wedding ceremony, the bride must paint henna feet and palms. This is not just a decoration – it is a rite in which the whole family of the bride participates, and a special master creates the painting.
For the wedding ceremony, which takes place in the temple, the girl puts on a dress of bright red fabric, as this color symbolizes good luck and happiness. Handong is decorated with a head – a traditional brocade headpiece in patterns and beads. The bride does not take off this headdress all evening.
Hanbok – the so-called national Korean costume. It consists of a fluffy long skirt and a loose shirt. A traditional wedding hanbok comes in bright colors or combines several contrasting shades. The most expensive fabrics go on his tailoring: natural silk, satin, brocade, chiffon.
The traditional Korean attire is completed by a little hat decorated with beads and stones – hwagwan (chokturi). It can be traditionally dark or light, matching the color of the dress.
According to Hungarian traditions, the bride’s wedding image should combine 3 colors: red, white and black. On the dress, there is always a green-red embroidery or sewn-in elements – flowers, ornament. The most interesting part of the outfit is the bride’s headdress. This is a kind of crown, in which spikelets of wheat and green twigs are woven – a symbol of fertility and prosperity.
